St. Thomas Chronicle August 2007
Playground
The playground re-build has started and we are so excited! For the next two weeks our playground will be closed. The teachers will be taking the kids for walks or doing quiet activities on the front sidewalk. We will try to get the children outside each day, but some days we may not make it. We have hired a company from Hartsell, Alabama: Kids Play. This company specializes in child-care and public-school playgrounds and follows all federal guidelines and recommendations for playground safety. So make sure you take a peek outside when you get a chance and watch the progress!
Thank you parents
We really appreciate the phone calls we are getting in the morning to let us know of absent children as well as the vacation notices we are receiving. This truly helps with our staffing and allows us to plan staff vacations more easily! Thanks again!
Congratulations!
Laurie Lincoln, our part-time preschool teacher was nominated by her peers to be our Employee of the Half. Twice a year the staff of St. Thomas choose one employee to receive this award. The nominations are based off of who the staff feels exemplifies those qualities in a co-worker that makes he or she an asset to St. Thomas. Laurie will receive a $50 gift certificate to anywhere she’d like. So pat her on the back the next time you see her!
Renewal
This is our year to renew our child care license with the Quality Assurance/Child Care Licensing Division. Please make sure that all of your paperwork is current and up-to-date for your children’s file. If you have moved, changed employment, changed phone number, have new emergency contacts or want to change your authorized pick up or drop off people let us know. Susie will also be going through all of the files and will let you know if we are missing anything. St. Thomas is honored to have an extended license from the state, which is only awarded to quality centers.
Last Day?
Great Falls Public School will start Tuesday August 28. If your child will be leaving St. Thomas, will Friday the 24 be the last day or will they be here on Monday the 27?
Open-toed shoes
Parents please remember to only dress your children in tennis shoes or sandals with closed toes. Open-toed sandals are dangerous with our playground equipment. Thanks!
